Laser Van Scanning Fayetteville Streets And Sidewalks
If you spot this laser-enabled van cruising around Fayetteville over the next few weeks, don’t worry... it’s just analyzing the state of the city’s street pavement and sidewalk conditions.
Set Phasers To Scan: The Infrastructure Management Services (IMS) van operates as a laser road surface tester – measuring pavement roughness, rutting, and cracking along the roadways. It also collects roadway and right-of-way data through four digital video cameras and GPS lasers mounted inside the van.
On The Road Again: IMS will take inventory of Fayetteville’s streets to develop a pavement condition index (PCI) rating. That data helps the city plan efficient strategies for upkeeping its roads.
