The University of Arkansas Opened Its Doors
On January 22, 1872, the Arkansas Industrial University (which would become the University of Arkansas) opened its doors in Fayetteville. The very first classes were held that day with just eight students and a few faculty, marking the beginning of what would become the state’s flagship university.
