Big Cats At Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge Weather the Cold Temperatures
While the tigers at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge are having fun romping in the snow, some of the African mammals are less than excited about this cold weather.
Cool Cats & Kittens: Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is a 459-acre sanctuary in Eureka Springs that provides lifelong care for rescued big cats and other exotic animals while promoting conservation and education. The sanctuary recently welcomed 33 animals from Carole Baskin's Florida-based Big Cat Rescue, which was featured in Netflix's Tiger King docuseries.
Heating Things Up: As staff navigates icy terrain to ensure all 100+ animals have fresh water and warm spaces, the refuge has launched its Heating-Up Campaign to fund the increased energy costs of heating enclosures and keeping the animals comfortable through the harsh winter. Donations directly support these vital efforts.
