Bentonville High School

Back-to-school shopping is about to get a little cheaper.

Arkansas’ annual Sales Tax Holiday returns Saturday, Aug 1, through Sunday, Aug 2, giving shoppers a chance to skip state and local sales tax on qualifying items for 48 hours.

Whether you’re stocking up on school supplies, refreshing the kids’ wardrobes, or checking items off a classroom list, here’s what’s included:

πŸ‘• Clothing & shoes

  • Clothing and footwear priced under $100 per item

  • Clothing accessories and equipment priced under $50 per item

✏️ School essentials

  • School supplies

  • School art supplies

  • School instructional materials

πŸ’» Student tech

  • Certain electronic devices commonly used by students for schoolwork are also eligible.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • There’s no limit on how many qualifying items you can buy.

  • Items over the price thresholds won’t qualify for the exemption.

  • Arkansas retailers are required to participate if they sell eligible items.

So, if your back-to-school checklist is still looking a little long, this weekend could be the perfect time to knock it out and keep a little extra cash in your pocket.
