Tontitown To Develop An Italian-Inspired Downtown Area
Leaders in the City of Tontitown are planning a new Italian-inspired downtown area called the Tontitown Heritage Village, which aims to provide a central hub for the rapidly growing city while honoring the town’s Italian history.
Little Italy: Tontitown was founded in 1898 by Italian immigrants led by Catholic priest Father Pietro Bandini. The town became known for its rich agricultural traditions, particularly grape growing, which laid the foundation for the annual Tontitown Grape Festival. Initial plans have the historic Catholic Church included in the heritage area.
The Vision: Heritage Village will feature a piazza, amphitheater, 12-acre lake, and fountains. The development will add housing for 5,000 people and may also include a library and medical facilities.
