TheatreSquared Unveils Its 2025-26 Season

Celebrating twenty years of transformative theater, Season packages now on sale, starting at $104

TheatreSquared (T2) Artistic Director Robert Ford and Executive Director Shannon A. Jones just pulled back the curtain on T2’s highly anticipated 2025-2026 season! Season packages are on sale now at theatre2.org/subscribe, with seven-play packages starting at $180 and four-play packages at $104.

"Twenty years ago, Amy Herzberg, myself, and a small group of friends believed this community could sustain a professional theatre," said Ford at Monday night's Season Unveiling event. "Now, after thousands of performances and countless lives touched, that dream has become a reality beyond our wildest imaginations."

"This season isn’t just an extension of our mission—it’s a celebration," added co-founder and Associate Artistic Director Amy Herzberg. "It’s a love letter to this community and a testament to what 20 years of dreaming big can create."

Here’s what’s coming for Season 20.

Malcolm X and Redd Foxx Washing Dishes at Jimmy’s Chicken Shack in Harlem
October 1 – October 26, 2025
A world premiere that proves T2’s commitment to bold, new work. Set in 1943 Harlem, this Jonathan Norton play—commissioned by T2 and developed at the Arkansas New Play Festival—follows two young dreamers, Little and Foxy, as they navigate heartbreak, betrayal, and racial tension while washing dishes at Jimmy’s Chicken Shack. Their paths may diverge, but history has other plans for Malcolm X and Redd Foxx.

It’s a Wonderful Life
November 19 – December 24, 2025
A holiday tradition with a T2 twist! Robert Ford’s adaptation of It’s a Wonderful Life brings the Christmas classic to life with just eight actors playing 65+ roles. Follow George Bailey’s journey through doubt, despair, and ultimate redemption in this heartwarming tale that reminds us: "No man is a failure who has friends."

The Book Club Play
January 21 – February 8, 2026
A book club, a documentary crew, and a whole lot of drama. Karen Zacarías’ witty comedy The Book Club Play turns a love for literature into a laugh-out-loud look at friendships, secrets, and unexpected twists. Will Ana’s carefully curated club survive when a new member shakes things up?

The Garbologists
March 4 – March 29, 2026
Friendship, found objects, and a whole lot of trash talk. The Garbologists by Lindsay Joelle explores the unexpected bond between Danny, a no-nonsense sanitation worker, and Marlowe, his Ivy-educated partner. Set in the cab of a New York City garbage truck, this play is a heartfelt, humorous look at what we throw away—and what we hold onto.
