Celebrate World Refugee Day With Canopy Northwest Arkansas

Canopy Northwest Arkansas and other community organizations have planned several events leading up to the World Refugee Day celebration on Thursday, Jun 20. You can also join the Tri-City Challenge to raise resources to welcome refugees to the region.

• Wear Blue: World Refugee Day is celebrated globally on Jun 20, recognizing the resilience and strength of those displaced from their homes worldwide. Canopy will host a celebration at Mount Sequoyah on Jun 20 from 2-7p.

• Welcome To…: Canopy is also facilitating a Tri-City Challenge between Fayetteville, Springdale, and Siloam Springs to see which city can raise $3000 fastest to meet the immediate needs of refugees in their city. Leaders from the city that raises the most funds will participate in furnishing the home of a new Arkansan.

ALS Association Hosts Inaugural Ride To Defeat ALS And Community Fundraising Event

The ALS Association will host the first-ever Ride To Defeat ALS: The Ozarks on Nov 9, bringing together individuals and teams dedicated to creating a future without the devastating disease.

• Going All In: Participants in the Ride To Defeat ALS are tasked with raising at least $180 for ALS research in addition to their registration fee. The ALS Association will use funds to contribute to research, care, and public policy programs for those who bravely fight the disease.

• Along For The Ride: The gravel ride will begin in Downtown Bentonville at 302 NE B Street and offer four route options, including 100K, 60K, 37K, and 12K distances through the beautiful Ozark landscape. Riders will celebrate with great food and a beer garden at the finish line.

Rider registration fees increase from $75 after Jun 21. Register as an individual or as a team HERE.

Local Breweries Teaming Up For The Great Southern Beer Fest

Break out your lederhosen overalls for The Great Southern Beer Fest, a celebration of the spring harvest and good brews, with 100% of funds raised going to local nonprofits. The festival will be held at Turnbow Park in Downtown Springdale on Jun 22, from 4-9p.

• Beyond The Beer: The Great Southen Beer Fest is organized by Ale-truism, a Northwest Arkansas-based nonprofit that supports other nonprofits by crafting fundraising opportunities and partnerships with the NWA brewing community.

• Rosin Up Your Bow: The festival will gather brewers from across the state to Downtown Springdale for a day filled with great beer, excellent food trucks, and live music all day, featuring 6-piece electric blues band The Downtown Livewires.
