Greenhouse Outdoor Recreation Program Launches Fall Cohort With Seven Local Startups
The Greenhouse Outdoor Recreation Program will kick off its fall cohort on Aug 27, with seven startups participating in the U of A's outdoor recreation business incubation program.
Greenhouse Growth: The 12-week program provides up to $15,000 in non-dilutive seed funding per company. Since 2022, GORP has launched 31 startups and supported over 300 entrepreneurs through various workshops, services, and workspace at the Collaborative in Bentonville.
Thinking Outside The Box: The fall cohort includes unique startups, like a 17-year-old on a mission to make e-bikes more accessible, a veteran-owned startup harnessing AI to improve firearm training, and a camping company turning upcycled coffee grounds into firestarters. Meet the cohort during Demo Night at The Meteor Guitar Gallery in Bentonville on Nov 12.

The 167th Washington County Fair Kicks Off Tomorrow
It's time for Ferris wheels, funnel cakes, petting zoos, and more as the Washington County Fair takes off this Tuesday through Saturday, Aug 20-24, from 10a-10p daily.
State Title: Founded in 1857, the Washington County Fair is Arkansas's largest county fair. From bull riding and carnival rides to pageants, art displays, and a free petting zoo, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Join The Fun: Admission is $5 cash or $7.50 card per person for ages six and up. Children under five get in for free, and armbands with unlimited ride access cost $30. On Friday, the carnival will stay open until 2a for Midnight Madness!

Development
Construction On 8th Street Gateway Park Expected To Start In September
Construction on Bentonville’s 8th Street Gateway Park project—a nearly 100-acre park that some are calling Bentonville’s own Central Park—is set to begin next month. The Walton Family Foundation has granted $32.5m toward the project, which is estimated to cost $39.4m.
Connected Community: Plans for the park include nearly 8 mi of greenways, multi-use paths, and bike trails; a 2-mi beginner mountain bike trail; 1-acre playground; a 3-acre Great Lawn; multiple gathering spaces; and a 13,000 sq. ft. plaza for hosting events, food trucks, and more.
Stellar Skatepark: The park will also feature a Wheelsports Garden designed by California Skate Park, the team that designed the Olympics skate park in Paris and will design the skatepark for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
