Startup Junkie To Host Accelerator Cohort From South Korea

Local nonprofit Startup Junkie will 15 South Korean startups this fall as part of a global accelerator program in partnership with the Korean Entrepreneurship Foundation and the South Korean government.

• Seoul Mates: The two-part accelerator program kicked off earlier this month in Seoul, South Korea, and will relocate to Northwest Arkansas in September. The 15 visiting companies were selected from a competitive pool of over 60 ventures, including companies across various industries, from AI and digital transformation to healthcare and robotics.

• Arkansas Bound: The companies will spend roughly six weeks in Northwest Arkansas, engaging with local enterprises, ecosystem leaders, and mentors while immersing themselves in local culture through events like the Startup Crawl on Oct 4 and the NWA Tech Summit from Oct 27-30.

Arkansas’s First Spanish-Language Bookstore Launches During NWA Book Fest

A new bookstore, Ambivert Books, launched last weekend during the NWA Book Fest in Fayetteville. It’s the only bookstore in Arkansas dedicated exclusively to international literature, offering U.S. readers access to untranslated Latin American works.

• Libro Favorito: Ambivert Books was founded by Brittany Johnson, who hopes to connect Spanish-speaking readers and language learners with non-translated content originally written in Spanish. Brittany fell in love with Latin American literature while studying Spanish at Texas A&M, a love that deepened while living in Spain.

• Book Clubs: For now, the bookshop will exist online and through pop-up opportunities. Ambivert Books will curate online subscription packages and fulfill community requests. The shop is excited to serve heritage speakers and Spanish-language learners alike.

NWACC Offers Free Robotics Training Opportunities To Region’s High School Students

NorthWest Arkansas Community College now offers free advanced robotic training to high school students, with concurrent courses available at NWACC’s Bentonville campus and Washington County location.

• Developing The Future: NWACC partnered with the Northwest Arkansas Education Service Cooperative and the Walton Family Foundation to develop the free program, creating a new career path for youth interested in future tech roles in the robotics and automation industry.

• In The Classroom: Students can earn up to 12 college credits and industry certifications while taking courses on robot operations and electrical concepts, including tasks required to set up specific applications and test, run, and refine programs.

Registration Open For The 2024 Fall Square 2 Square Bike Ride

Break out the helmets and tune up your bikes for the 2024 Fall Square 2 Square Bike Ride, hosted by Bentonville and Fayetteville Parks & Rec teams on Saturday, Sep 21.

• Southbound: Participants in the local tradition will ride 30+ mi from The Sam’s Club Home Office in Bentonville to Walker Park in south Fayetteville via the scenic Razorback Greenway, making pit stops along the way in Rogers, Lowell, Downtown Springdale, and Lake Fayetteville.

• Ready To Roll: Registration is $35 for adults and $20 for youth. Shuttles are available as a $10 add-on. Sign up as a family and get $10 off per rider when registering at least three from the same household.
