Homegrown Restaurant Hosts Grand Opening in Downtown Springdale

NWA Daily

HomeGrown hosted its grand opening yesterday at the 202 Railside building in Downtown Springdale, and we were very impressed!

  • Early Birds: Offering a culinary experience that pairs comfort with style, this charming daytime eatery offers breakfast and lunch every day from 6:30a-2:30p for the early crowd on Emma Ave.

  • Savory & Sweet: Our recommendations? Don't skip out on their biscuits & gravy, croissant french toast, or the salsa verde. With everything in the restaurant being ‘homegrown,’ we see them calling Springdale home for a long time.

You can find them on IG HERE or get a peak at their menu as you plan your visit HERE.

Discover Your Next Favorite Read At The NWA Book Swap

Apollo on Emma

Looking to update your library but don’t want to break the bank? Mark your calendar for the NWA Book Swap at The Apollo in Downtown Springdale on Sep 9, from 6-9p.

  • A Real Page-Turner: Nearly 2 billion books are printed each year in the U.S., many of which are never read or, worse, end up in landfills. NWA Book Swap hopes to reduce book waste by connecting readers so they can trade gently-used books for new titles in a way that encourages more sustainable and accessible reading practices.

  • Real Life GoodReads: Meet other book lovers and hype up your favorite stories at the Recommendation Station. There will be local snacks, drinks, and desserts for purchase and a mini-makers market present.

Get tickets at the Early Bird Price of $20 before Aug 1 and receive an NWA Book Fest Tote bag!

Mountain Boomers Making A Comeback Thanks To Conservation Efforts

Arkansas Game And Fish Commission | Levi Horrell

Though it looks like it belongs in the deserts of the Southwest, the Eastern Collared Lizard once thrived as a native species of Arkansas, and conservationists are working to bring their numbers back up.

  • Ok, boomer: Colloquially referred to as “mountain boomers,” the Easter Collard Lizard is one of Arkansas’s greatest conservation concerns as an important predator in glade habitats — their reintroduction could benefit other species of concern like the northern bobwhite quail and wild turkey.

  • Getting a boost: The Eastern Collared Lizard Conservation Team recently released 43 yearling lizards that were bred in captivity at the Little Rock Zoo into restored glade sites throughout northern Arkansas to help reestablish a population in the Ozark Mountains.
