NWA Daily's Authentic Mexican Restaurant Guide

There are so many options to choose from when it comes to Mexican food in NWA. We've compiled a list of our favorite spots for local, authentic Mexican restaurants that can only be found in NWA!

Fayetteville

Mexica Viejo Mexican Restaurant is on Martin Luther King Blvd and is open every day from 11a-10p. The dining area is large and portions are generous - perfect for gatherings and parties. There is a full bar with craft cocktails, and of course, delicious margaritas!

Mr. Taco Loco is a classic NWA spot, and one of our very favorite taco joints. If you're looking for a spot to grab some street tacos and low priced drinks, Mr. Taco Loco has one of the best Taco Tuesday deals in the area.

El Matador Mexican Bar and Grill is another favorite, serving fresh, authentic cuisine in both Fayetteville and Siloam Springs. Matador is popular for both lunch and dinner and serves a large selection of meat, vegetarian, and seafood dishes. Definitely give the house Wedington Special a try!

Tula is an authentic, upscale Mexican restaurant located right off of the square. It has great vibes, great drinks, and a wide variety of authentic dishes like queso fundido. Its convenient location puts it in walking distance of several fun after dinner drink options.

With two locations in Fayetteville and a drive through, Mango's is a great option to pick up some delicious street tacos on the go. While tacos are an obvious choice at Mango's, it also has some other great options like stuffed jalapeños.

Sabor Guacamole is go to spot near campus in Fayetteville with affordable dishes and some fantastic queso. Grab $1 tacos on Tuesdays or $2.99 margaritas on the rocks on Thursdays.

Open from 4p-3a Thursday-Saturday and right on Dickson, Los Bobos Taqueria serves street tacos and other Mexican fare for those out late. We recommend the tortas if you want to branch away from tacos for an evening.

Con Quesos specializes in fusion tacos and specialty cheese dips. There are also traditional offerings such as the Los Cabos and Condesa, which hit the spot every time.

Springdale

NWA Daily

One of our new favorite dining options in Downtown Springdale, Casa Alejo takes Mexican cuisine to the next level. The queso will knock your socks off, and it’s even better if you add chorizo. Order anything with campechana, a blend of steak and chorizo, and you won’t be disappointed. Top menu recommendations include the Queso Fundido Alambre, Fajitas Parrillada (perfect to split), and the Quesabirria — we also couldn't stop eyeing the waffle fry nachos at the table next to us.

📍2135 Main Dr (Fayetteville)

NWA Daily

La Media Luna is tucked away in Johnson, adding a unique, gourmet flair to its traditional Mexican dishes. Crowd favorites are the Cochinita Pibil and the Chile En Nogada, and they are a must. The restaurant hosts a Mariachi band on Friday nights and Jazz music on Thursday and Saturday nights, plus a patio when the weather is nice! The best part: they have happy hour deals from 4-6p on weeknights!

📍 802 Airport Ave

NWA Daily

By wheels or wings, El Chefe Mexican Cuisine will take you on a trip to Flavor Town with its menu of incredible flavors out of its food truck or permanent location in the Springdale municipal airport. The Gonzalez family opened its brick-and-mortar location on the upper floor of the Springdale Airport last September, and while it might not be easy to find, you’ll easily find your way back for plenty more visits after your first time. The constant flow of small planes taking off and landing right outside the window makes for a fun vibe. We feasted on the Triple OG, a 14 in. triple stack quesadilla stuffed with steak, chorizo avocado, and crema — perfect for splitting unless you’ve got a big appetite.

At Taqueria Guanajuato, they believe meals can be a culinary experience, and great food is only the beginning. Both locations in Springdale are upbeat and exciting atmospheres ready with an extensive delicious menu.

We know we are giving you too many tasty options to choose from in this guide, but Taqueria Mexico is another chef's kiss gem, and it's open until 10:30 every day of the week except Friday and Saturday when it is closed at 1p.

Photo courtesy of Mana Cabana Taqueria

Mana Cabana Taqueria is another family-owned Mexican restaurant and has one of the more impressive menus with a Traditional Menu section, Sea Food, Healthy Food, Special of the Day, Kids Menu, and more. If you want something simple and delicious, try the champurrado and tamales!

NWA Daily

Taqueria Don Guero is one of the best stops on Springdale’s authentic Taqueria tour. With the building’s bright, fun colors and the patio outside, it is such an exciting and pleasant place to get some street tacos while strolling through downtown.

El Mazatleco Bar and Mexican Grill is another family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant in Springdale. The family is from the Mexican state of Sinaloa where they had a dream of opening a restaurant that offered a wide variety of Sinaloense food and homemade seafood with unique flavors relished in Mazatlan Sinaloa, the Pearl of the Pacific. And as they’ll tell you, the family’s dream came true, and now we have a piece of Mazatlan Sinaloa in Arkansas.

At Acapulco, the chefs use vegetables that are hand-selected and meat that is fresh, it’s never frozen. The vegetarian tacos are impeccable for those who don’t eat meat. Go on a Tuesday for the $1.50 tacos and the $2 margaritas!

Bentonville

NWA Daily

Rolling Taco is one of our favorite taco trucks in NWA and is in a great location on 8th street, just a bike ride away from the downtown square. The menu has all of your classic Mexican street meals. The restaurant's namesake, the Rolling Tacos, is 3 tacos, double tortilla with guacamole, cheese, sour cream, and salsa.

📍960 N 45th St (Springdale)

📍 111 N Main St, Bentonville

Azul Tequila is an experience from the moment you walk in the door. Every corner of the restaurant is intentionally designed to portray Mexican family culture and coziness. Each cocktail and dish on the menu is a tribute to the owner’s family members and each ingredient is a representation of who they are, who they have been, and who they will be. In Azul Tequila you’re sure to feel warm and like a part of the family.

📍2813 W Walnut St (Rogers)

The first Maria’s Mexican Restaurant opened in Bentonville in 1999 and seated 25 people. Now, the same location seats 150 people and there are two more locations, one of which is in Rogers, the other in Fort Smith. Each location is cozy, has friendly staff, and of course, the food is always just what we’re looking for.

NWA Daily

All Yeyo's produce is grown and its animals are raised on farms just outside Bentonville so as to “preserve and share our deepest roots and traditions, create a spiritual connection with artisanal Mezcal, art, food, and people.” Yeyo’s Mezcaleria & Taqueria, Yeyo's El Alma de Mexico, and the two food trucks weave food and art together into a cohesive and immersive experience and are the first of their kind in Arkansas.

El Pueblito is a hidden gem in Centerton. The dishes are fresh and authentic. We love the chips and salsa that come with the meal, and our go-to’s are the Chimichanga and the Fajita Taco Salad.

Rogers

NWA Daily

Yeyo's is all about bringing substance and meaning to its dishes. Like in Bentonville, you'll find fresh and purposeful foods here while surrounded by culture and family history.

📍301 N Walton Blvd (Bentonville)

📍1115 E Henri De Tonti Blvd (Springdale)

📍1084 W Sunset Ave (Springdale)

Las Palmas’ motto is to spread happiness through food, and they do a good job of it! The first Las Palmas in NWA opened in downtown Rogers in 1994. This is our favorite location as it is close to the attractions of downtown, has great character, a large dining area, a full bar with TVs, and outside seating.

The masterminds behind Yulianita’s make everything from scratch, which makes for a unique and authentic experience. The restaurant has all your traditional dishes and it is right off SE 14th St, or W Hudson Rd in Rogers, so you can pull off for a quick, convenient bite before continuing on your way.

📍2308 SE 28th St (Bentonville)

Photo courtesy of Taqueria Real Jacona

We love Taqueria Real Jacona in Rogers for its simple atmosphere and menu that hits the spot when you are just looking for some good old Mexican cuisine. If you like spicy salsa, they have a concoction you’re sure to love. Wash the spicy salsa down with a Mexican soda when you go for the full experience!
