Community Input Guides Identity Formation For USL Arkansas

Following thousands of conversations, over 40 hours of community listening sessions, and more than 600 survey responses, USL Arkansas has determined its unique mission, vision, and values.

  • Community Focussed: Co-founder Warren Smith highlighted the fan-driven nature of this process: "From our listening sessions and surveys, it's clear that the people of Northwest Arkansas cherish this area for its entrepreneurial spirit, natural beauty, and community values.”

  • Fan Driven: Join USL Arkansas in its mission to “Challenge the ordinary and cultivate the extraordinary, using the beautiful game to unify, uplift and propel the Northwest Arkansas community” by applying for the Founding Fans Panel. Thirty-six passionate fans will be chosen to help guide the final stages of choosing the team’s name, crest, and logo.

Community Creative Center

January to February Classes kick off this week at the Community Creative Center, featuring six-week courses across a wide span of artistic mediums.

  • Unleash Creativity: Classes focus on different skills such as ceramics, sewing, painting, drawing, printmaking, and more. This semester features new classes like screenwriting, monotype printmaking, and a hand-building class for making animals, aliens, and monsters!

  • Develop Skills: These courses are a great way to take your hobby to the next level and develop skills with the guidance of experienced artists from the region. Plus, it’s a great way to meet others who share your interest in various creative pursuits!

Witness never-before-seen images from one of America’s most influential photographers featured in the Annie Leibovitz at Work exhibition — on display at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art until Jan 29.

Rock On: Registration Now Open For Inaugural Arkansas Graveler

Registration opened last week for the inaugural Arkansas Graveler, an epic six-day gravel ride through some of Arkansas’s most rugged landscape, scheduled for Jun 23-29.

  • Diamond of the South: Arkansas has roughly 69,000 mi of unpaved backroads, making the state’s beautiful landscape perfect for the rapidly growing sport of gravel cycling. Local cycling legend and former UCI Pro Cyclist Scotti Lechuga (pictured above) will serve as the Event Director.

  • Grind Some Gravel: The six-day, 340+ mile bike journey will take participants down county and forest backroads throughout northern Arkansas, showcasing the state's natural beauty and culture. The ride will begin in Fayetteville at the University of Arkansas and end at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Six days sound insane? Join for a one-day Mini Graveler from Fayetteville to Oark.

Camp Acacia Providing Fun Summer Camp Experiences For All

The team at Camp Acacia is gearing up for another year of fun summer camps at its Gentry-based summer camp built with inclusion in mind.

  • All For Fun: Founded in 2019, Camp Acacia is an inclusive summer camp led by an experienced staff to help participants discover their abilities, build confidence, and form lasting friendships through activities ranging from biking and kayaking to arts and crafts.

  • Fun For All: Enrollment for summer 2024 is open, with seven different types of camps available to best fit the needs of campers based on activities of daily living, communication skills, and behavior/emotional regulation to help them have the best possible experience!
