SoNA Prepares to Pull Your Heartstrings with Season Opener

The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas launches its 2023-24 Season at Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville with a performance titled Great Romantics, led by Music Director Paul Haas on Saturday, Sep 23, at 7:30p.

  • Love Songs: Presenting iconic romance numbers, the symphony will feature Leonard Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, a bold retelling of Romeo and Juliet, and Sergei Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2. Bernstein's West Side Story is a , while Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2, a quintessential Romantic composition.

  • I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying: Director Paul Haas shared his excitement to begin the season with this “emotional program” — a night filled with deeply moving pieces that showcase the “orchestra’s expressive power."

Art on the Bricks Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Local artists will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month during this month’s Art on the Bricks with art demonstrations, live music, dancing, and family-friendly activities all around Downtown Rogers this Thursday, Sep 14, from 4:30-7:30p.

  • Hispanic Heritage: Join in the celebration and experience dance, music, and culinary delights from regional artists of Hispanic descent. Hosted by Downtown businesses and restaurants, the showcase features arts and crafts by Latino community members from nine countries.

  • Jazzy Fresh: The Music Depot will host a jazz performance by The Crusade Quartet from 5-7p alongside an exhibition and live painting by Mexican-American artist David Gomez — whose art reflects overcoming obstacles like language barriers, dyslexia, and a childhood stutter.

Tyson Foods Introduces Driverless Trucks Into Local Fleet

Last week, Tyson Foods announced a partnership with logistics company Gatik AI to introduce driverless trucks into their local fleet.

  • Driving into the Future: The introduction of driverless trucks will ensure supply chain reliability and reduce emissions, as the increasingly efficient and sustainable performance of autonomous trucks leads to enhanced fuel economy.

  • Look Ma, No Hands: The driverless delivery trucks will operate 18 hours/day, transporting products between distribution and storage centers in Rogers and Springdale. Initially, a safety driver will be present in the cab to take over if required.

Walker Foundation Supports New UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Performance Center

The Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation has committed $2m to UAMS, supporting the construction of a new UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Performance Center in Springdale.

  • We’re Moving: Set to open in 2025, the 115,000ft2 , $85m facility will centralize the operations of the two existing UAMS orthopedic facilities, in Fayetteville and Lowell, into one location and add services not currently available.

  • Top Notch Care: UAMS is the exclusive orthopedics and sports medicine provider for Razorback Athletics. The new facility will allow for improved specialized care for student-athletes and make available the highest level of orthopedic care for Northwest Arkansas.
