Bentonville Public Library Hosts OZ Kids™ Bike and Book Fest

Gear up for the third annual OZ Kids™ Bike and Book Fest at the Bentonville Public Library on Saturday, Jul 1, at 9a.

  • Need a bike? Pedal It Forward is trying to give away 150 bikes in honor of Bentonville’s 150th birthday. Keep an eye out on this form for available bikes, as more are donated each day. Unused bikes can be donated to a kid in need here.

  • Booking it: Kids can try out Buddy Pegs’ jump bag, ride a basic skills course with Strider Bikes, and participate in the bike parade at 11a. There will also be book giveaways, food, face painting, storytime, and live music with The Juice!

Simporter Moves Headquarters to Northwest Arkansas

AI-powered software company Simporter recently announced plans to move its headquarters from Atlanta to Northwest Arkansas — leaning into relationships forged with the region’s thriving tech community during the 2021 Fuel Accelerator AI/ML program.

  • Trendsetter: Simporter uses AI-powered software to automate ideation research and pre-market forecasting. By analyzing billions of data points across consumer search, sales, social media, and reviews, the software can create concept products and forecast sales with 85% accuracy.

  • Up and running: The Fuel Accelerator’s 12-week AI/ML program provides mentorship and networking opportunities for seed & growth-stage technology companies. The program has led to the creation of 61 jobs in the region, and at least one company per year has relocated its headquarters to NWA following the program.

True Crime Fest Founder’s Film Picked Up By Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime recently picked up an independent film by Northwest Arkansas Indie filmmakers and cold case advocates highlighting the 1994 abduction and murder of 19-year-old college student Melissa Ann Witt in Fort Smith.

  • Unsolved: Uneven Ground: The Melissa Witt Story premiered at the True Crime Fest in Northwest Arkansas this past May, which hosted nationally renowned true crime authors, podcasters, and advocates fighting to bring awareness to cold case victims across the United States.

  • On the case: The documentary follows local filmmaker, advocate, and private investigator LaDonna Humphrey as she explores Witt's case. In addition to the documentary, Humphrey has written two books about the Witt case, with a third to be released in October 2023.
