Snow in Northwest Arkansas is rare. So, make the most of the opportunity with the best sledding spots around the area.

From golf courses and parks to secret spots, there are plenty of fun places to shred some snow!

Fayetteville

  • Wilson Park — The classic go-to with a long, fun hill on the south side (often from the walking trail or off Louise St.). It's a Fayetteville tradition, crowded but family-friendly and reliable.

  • Paradise Valley Golf Course (E. Joyce Blvd area) — Elevated tees and open slopes provide excellent runs. Often less crowded than parks and highly recommended by locals.

  • Mount Sequoyah — Multiple good spots, especially the south end near the old water tower or the surrounding areas. Scenic with solid drops.

  • Holt Middle School (west side, off Rupple Rd/Mt Comfort) — Popular school hill with good length.

  • Gulley Park — Nice open slopes for sliding.

  • University of Arkansas Campus — Various hills near the Union, Reid Hall, or west side of the school.

  • Honorable Mentions: West side of Fayetteville High School and Kessler Mountain trails.

Rogers

  • Bellview Elementary School — Turns into a major hotspot on snow days; families come from nearby areas (even Pea Ridge), with long sessions from morning to evening. Safe, away from roads.

  • Cross Church — Grassy slopes that get busy.

  • First Presbyterian Church (off New Hope Rd) — Hill behind the parking lot. Typically popular and smaller nearby hills at the aquatics center.

Bentonville

  • Ditch on Elm Tree near 2nd Street — Natural feature for fun, quick runs.

  • Honorable Mentions: Some use Coler Mountain Bike Preserve trails (e.g., big hill after the musical bridge) when snowy.

Bella Vista

  • Various recreation areas (e.g., around Branchwood Recreation Center, Dogwood/Brittany courses near parking lots) — Natural ridges and hills provide great downhill fun.

Springdale & Others

  • JB Hunt Park — Hill by the first playground; solid choice for the area.

  • Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park — Hilly grounds can work well when covered.

  • Johnson/Cave Springs — Open hills or spots like where roads meet (e.g., 612 at Hwy 112) get local love.
