Alice L. Walton School of Medicine Secures Accreditation and Opens Applications

The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) has secured preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, allowing the school to recruit its first class of 48 students for the inaugural MD program.

• Transforming Healthcare: Founded by Alice Walton in 2021, AWSOM emphasizes a whole-person approach to health care. In a groundbreaking move, the school will waive tuition for its first five classes to make this new pipeline of future physicians accessible to diverse applicants.

• On Campus: The 154,000-square-foot campus, designed with student well-being in mind, will offer spaces for learning, wellness, and recreation in the heart of Bentonville. Applications open by early November, and classes are set to begin in July 2025.
