Fall Applications For Single Parent Scholarship Fund Closing Soon

The Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA offers scholarships to single parents in our region who desire further education to help provide for their families. The deadline to apply for Fall 2024 is this Saturday, Jun 15.

  • Resilient Parents: In 1984, Marjorie Marugg-Wolfe and Ralph Nesson co-founded SPSFNWA to help single parents struggling to make ends meet. What began with $3450 to help fifteen families has grown to support over 21,435 single parents, with over $17.8m donated.

  • Earning Degrees: Scholarships are available for full-time to part-time enrollment in various degree programs and CWD certification programs at partnering schools.

Bentonville Film Festival Hits The Screen This Week

Celebrating its tenth year, the Bentonville Film Festival is screening films around Northwest Arkansas this week through Jun 16.

  • Big Dreams: With a unique focus on films created by and starring talent of diverse backgrounds, the BFFoundation aims to inspire young minds from all walks of life to do great things.

  • The Lineup: This year’s lineup includes 75+ feature films and 50+ shorts, with in-person screenings taking place at the Momentary’s Fermentation Hall, Thaden School Performing Arts Center, and Bentonville’s Skylight Theater. There are many fun events to enjoy this year, including dress-up parties, costume competitions, and more!

Shape The Future Of Affordable Housing In NWA With Groundwork

Groundwork is creating vibrant, mixed-income communities in Northwest Arkansas by expanding housing options for working families near vital hubs of employment, commerce, and culture — like the current Big Emma project in Downtown Springdale.

  • Stay Informed: Groundwork offers learning opportunities that include 1) a list of reports and resources focused on NWA, 2) a glossary of housing terms and their meanings, and 3) the FutureIsNow speaker series featuring local and national experts sharing solutions for attainable housing.

From Biking To Baking, NWACC Engages Community With Summer Learning Opportunities

NWACC is hosting community workshops and youth camps this summer to provide unique learning opportunities for the community.

  • Biking: As part of the new Bicycle Technician Program, community members can register for Bike Tech Community Classes, which will be held on Saturdays during June. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist looking to fine-tune your bike or a beginner eager to learn the basics, these classes offer valuable knowledge and practical expertise. Classes range from $50-100.

  • Baking: Brightwater, the community college’s culinary program, is hosting Future Chefs Food Camps, featuring week-long day camps around varying themes and options for kids ages 9-17. Sessions run through Jul 26 and cost $450.
