Turpentine Creek Expands By 14 Acres With Freedom Field
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge near Eureka Springs, one of America's most respected big cat sanctuaries, has expanded by 14 acres with the recent opening of Freedom Field.
Wild Times: Since 1992, Turpentine Creek has rescued over 500 animals from private owners, roadside zoos, and situations of abuse and neglect, providing lifelong sanctuary in its roughly 500-acre refuge. They currently care for several tigers, lions, ligers, a jaguar, a hyena, and more.
Tiger Queen: Freedom Field adds room for 44 new animals. The project was in the works for over eight years but got expedited when Carole Baskin, who you may remember from the Netflix show Tiger King, approached Turpentine Creek to “merge” with her Big Cat Rescue. A new education center and museum will break ground in early 2025.
