9 Photos of Unique Wildlife in Northwest Arkansas 🦅

Ever wondered what kind of wildlife roams around Northwest Arkansas? Well, NWA native and wildlife photographer Dwayne Foote has a knack for capturing raw wildlife moments from around the region.

Dwayne graciously sent us a few photos from his time outdoors to share with you all on NWA Daily.

Osprey with fish at Lake Elmdale. It was an awesome experience witnessing this Osprey dive for a fish, fully immersing itself in the water. Its third attempt was the charm, as seen flying away with its catch.  

Great Blue Heron scavenging the remains of a fish at the lake. This Heron was so caught up in scavenging the remains of this fish that it didn't notice me initially standing near, but semi-hidden by the surrounding trees. As it thrashed at the fish, it almost fell, spreading its wings to regain balance.  

Great Blue Heron in flight at Lake Fayetteville. The blind at Lake Fayetteville gave me the cover needed to capture this normally skittish Great Blue Heron flying towards me.

Barred Owl in Tontitown. Northsong Wild ZBird rehabilitation is doing amazing work. They rehabbed this handsome subject, and I was blessed to capture its release!  

Grackle feeding its young a dragonfly at Osage Park. Modern cameras are a technical wonder, and in the hands of an experienced photographer they enable moments like this of an adult feeding its young to be frozen in time and admired.

Cormorant sniping at a turtle at City Lake in Siloam Springs. This cormorant was not interested in sharing the log. A quick snipe at the turtle and the turtle got the point - it scurried back into the water. 

Cormorant drying off at City Lake in Siloam Springs. This capture looked comical. With one wing spread out and its mouth open, it looked like it had something to say and wasn't shy in doing so.

Black Tailed Jackrabbit at Lake Osage. This Jackrabbit was perfectly backlit by the morning sun.

Fox Squirrel playing peek-a-boo in Bentonville. This squirrel approached me running, perhaps expecting food. As it came within near feet of me, it took to the tree, where it took time to check me out and pose for some stills.
