Construction On 8th Street Gateway Park Expected To Start In September

Construction on Bentonville’s 8th Street Gateway Park project—a nearly 100-acre park that some are calling Bentonville’s own Central Park—is set to begin next month. The Walton Family Foundation has granted $32.5m toward the project, which is estimated to cost $39.4m.

  • Connected Community: Plans for the park include nearly 8 mi of greenways, multi-use paths, and bike trails; a 2-mi beginner mountain bike trail; 1-acre playground; a 3-acre Great Lawn; multiple gathering spaces; and a 13,000 sq. ft. plaza for hosting events, food trucks, and more.

  • Stellar Skatepark: The park will also feature a Wheelsports Garden designed by California Skate Park, the team that designed the Olympics skate park in Paris and will design the skatepark for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
