Fayetteville Will Pilot A City-Wide Curbside Compost Collection Service In January

Starting January 2025, Fayetteville residents can participate in a new pilot program offering curbside food waste collection, a collaboration between the City of Fayetteville and Ozark Compost and Swap.

  • Waste Not: The pilot program aims to divert food waste from landfills, helping the City meet its 40% waste diversion goal. Participants will receive a clean five-gallon bucket from OCS to collect food waste, which will be picked up every two weeks and processed into compost at the City’s Recycling and Trash Division, creating nutrient-rich compost for residents.

  • Want Not: The first month of service is free, and residents are not obligated to continue beyond the pilot. Participants who choose to continue the service will pay a monthly fee—view pricing on the OCS website.
