Experience Marshallese Artistry Through A New Exhibition At Crystal Bridges
Crystal Bridges and the Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese (ACOM) are teaming up to showcase a new exhibition called Navigating Lolelaplap, which highlights Marshallese Indigenous culture and the rich local community of Marshall Islanders in Northwest Arkansas.
Island Life: In the Marshallese language, “Lolelaplap” is the name for the Marshall Islands. Lolelaplap and Northwest Arkansas share a close connection, as NWA is the home to the largest concentration of Marshall Islanders in the United States.
Float By: The show features works including Canoe of One Community, a traditional kōrkōr canoe built by master boat-builder Liton Beasa in 2021 on the Crystal Bridges grounds. Celebrate the exhibition opening with free family activities, art making, a gallery talk, a guided tour of the exhibition, and more this Saturday, Oct 19, from 1-4p.

Prairie Creek Marina At Beaver Lake Acquired In $30 Million Deal

Prairie Creek Marina
Prairie Creek Marina in Rogers has exchanged hands after a $30M off-market deal.
Lake Day: Originally built in 1966, Prairie Creek Marina has grown to become the largest marina on Beaver Lake. It includes over 750 boat slips, a fueling station, a store, and a restaurant currently occupied by The Captian’s Seat. The marina’s water rights are leased from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
Gave ‘Em The Slip: Craig Smith, who owned the marina for nearly 30 years, sold the property to Allied Strategic Partners, a Dallas-based firm focused on leisure and hospitality-related investments. The firm will continue to operate the marina and has plans to improve its amenities.
