Local Health Leaders Investing $700M To Improve Healthcare In The Heartland

Alice L. Walton Foundation, Mercy, and Heartland Whole Health Institute recently announced a 30-year, $700M collaboration to expand access to health care, reduce costs, and improve health outcomes in the Heartland.

  • Collaborative Care: The 30-year agreement includes significant investments to make Northwest Arkansas a destination for care and a national example of how to provide health care in new and innovative ways. Major efforts will be taken to attract, train, and retain top physicians for the region.

  • Specialization: Mercy has committed $350M to the initiative, including plans to build a cardiac care center on its Rogers campus — Cleveland Clinic, a national leader in heart and vascular surgery, will provide on-site expertise. Alice L. Walton Foundation will provide $350M, in part to develop an outpatient center for specialty care in Bentonville.

Big Diamond Comedy Festival

Some of America’s funniest comics will gather in Bentonville for the inaugural Big Diamond Comedy Festival from Oct 3-5.

  • A Couple Of Friends: This festival is the brainchild of comedians Sam Tallent and Raj Suresh, who have invited comedians from all across the country to participate in a weekend of laughter in Bentonville.

  • Stirring Up Laughter: Spanning three stages at Bike Rack Brewing, Bentonville Brewing Co., and the Meteor Guitar Gallery, ten comedians will brighten your night with their wittiness and whimsy. Some exciting comics in the lineup include Heather Shaw, Kam Patterson, Kyle Kinane, and more!

The Jones Center To Host Contemporary Circus Group Hideaway Circus Oct 4-6

The magic of the contemporary circus is coming to Downtown Springdale as The Jones Center presents Hideaway Circus’s “Canvas Sky,” “ with four showtimes scheduled from Oct 4-6.

  • Contemporary Circus: Hideaway Circus is a new kind of American circus: open-air, family-friendly, and with world-class performers who combine acrobatics, storytelling, and spellbinding artistry. Prepare to be amazed by high-flying aerial stunts, jaw-dropping acrobatics, juggling, and more – all set to an original musical score.

  • Beneath The Stars: “Canvas Sky” tells the story of a circus clown struggling to find his voice until a friend helps him discover his uniqueness. The all-ages production is performed on a custom-built circular stage and aerial rig under a canopy of open sky and stars.
