$100M I-49 Project Expected To Wrap Up In 2028

A $100 million infrastructure project in South Fayetteville is on track to wrap up by mid-2028.

  • Upgrade Needed: The project scope includes 5 key upgrades: widening I-49 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to six lanes, adding roundabouts, repositioning ramps, installing a stoplight at South Oak Road, and reworking the 1 Mile Road intersection.

  • Ease Congestion: The project aims to ease traffic congestion for the 73K vehicles traveling South Fayetteville’s section of I-49 daily and the 46K drivers on MLK Jr. Blvd west of the intersection.
