Bentonville Finalizes Plans to Restore Little Sugar Creek and Park
In its most recent meeting, the Bentonville City Council has approved plans to restore Little Sugar Creek and remove the failed dam at Lake Bella Vista, transforming the area into a natural public space by the end of 2026.
Back to its Beginning: The project will fully remove the dam and restore the creek to a natural, free-flowing state—no side channel lake or riffle weirs. However, a portion of the dam will remain as a historical monument honoring the site’s history.
Flow State: Renamed Sugar Creek Park, the area will include multiple pedestrian and small floating access points. The City Council pledged to have this project complete EOY 2026.
