Fayetteville Launches Interactive Foraging Map for Edible Plants
A brand new digital foraging map from the City of Fayetteville is helping residents locate edible fruits and nuts in public spaces across town.
Berry Smart: Created by the Urban Forestry and GIS departments, the map highlights public areas with fruit (and nut) bearing trees like pawpaws, mulberries, and pecans. It also includes a submission tool, allowing residents to suggest new locations.
Pick Responsibly: When foraging, residents are asked to harvest sustainably by taking no more than one-third of what’s available and to avoid all formal planting beds, including those at Wilson Park, the Downtown Square, and Lake Fayetteville.
