Be Pro Be Proud Draft Day Connects Students with Skilled Careers

Hundreds of local high school students explored hands-on career opportunities last week at Be Pro Be Proud’s Draft Day event in Springdale.

• Career Connections: Held at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center, the event brought together students from 25 regional schools and 40 employers actively hiring in skilled technical fields. The initiative aims to connect young talent with career pathways critical to Arkansas’s workforce.

• Building the Future: Sponsored by Walmart, the event is part of a statewide effort to prepare students for in-demand jobs. A similar event was held earlier in the week in Fort Smith, reinforcing the program’s mission to strengthen Arkansas’s skilled labor pipeline. There are nine draft day events taking place across Arkansas in total this spring.

Benji is about one year old and is smaller than he looks in photos: weighing in at just 34 pounds. Likely part Shar Pei, with his wrinkled face and jowls, but the rest of him is sleek, so he has a very unique look.

For a young pup, he’s got a super laid-back attitude toward life. He’s happy to meet new people of all ages without getting too excited and is calm in public situations.
