What’s The X For in XNA? A Brief History of Northwest Arkansas National Airport

Ever wondered why Northwest Arkansas National Airport got the airport code XNA?

• What’s In A Name: When the airport was built in the 1990s, leaders wanted a code that reflected the whole region. "NWA" was their first pick, but the U.S. Navy reserves all airport call signs starting with “N.” They even considered “SAM” for Sam Walton, but that was taken, too.

• Tha Crossroads: After reviewing available codes, “XNA” stood out—"X" symbolizes a crossroads, and "NA" stands for Northwest Arkansas. And a significant crossroads it has become. In 1999, 329,216 passengers boarded flights at XNA. Last year, the number was 1,147,947.

Mercy Expands Senior Care Wirth New Clinic In Rogers

Mercy has opened its second 65 Prime+ clinic in Arkansas, offering specialized care for Medicare patients and those 65 and older.

• Comfortable Clinic: Located at 3801 W. Financial Pkwy in Rogers, the 4,067-sqft clinic features eight exam rooms with reclining tables and a full-service lab. Physicians joining the new clinic in Rogers are Dr. Shalini Bichala, Dr. Laura Belviy, Dr. Raymond Mahan, and Dr. Eric Ranon.

• Personalized Care: The clinic provides longer and more frequent appointments, ensuring seniors receive dedicated time and attention. Services include wellness exams, chronic disease management, and care for conditions like Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s.

Walmart AMP Hosting Job Fair for 2025 Concert Season

The Walmart AMP will host a job fair this Saturday, Feb 22, from 1-4p and Tuesday, Feb 25, from 5-8p, looking to fill up to 75 day-of-show positions for the 2025 concert season.

• Popcorn to Parking: Available positions include parking, security, hospitality, housekeeping, custodial, culinary support, and concessions.

• Sign Me Up: Interested applicants should reserve an interview time and complete application paperwork online before attending, but walk-ins will be interviewed if time allows. The job fair will be held backstage at the Walmart AMP in Rogers—park in the Blue Lot.
