Antiques Roadshow Coming To Crystal Bridges In May

The most-watched ongoing series on PBS, Antiques Roadshow, will make a stop at Crystal Bridges in Bentonville on Tuesday, May 14, as part of its 2024 tour.

  • On The Road Again: Antiques Roadshow travels across the United States to discover and appraise everything from vintage furniture to rare collectibles while highlighting the great stories attached to family heirlooms.

  • Intrinsic Value: Appraisers and historians will be present to provide insights into the potential value of items. Tickets to the event are free but must be reserved in advance by entering a sweepstakes by Mar 18.

Swarm Aero Selects Rogers For Future Drone Production Facility

California-based drone manufacturer Swarm Aero, has chosen Northwest Arkansas to build an advanced manufacturing center for its uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs).

  • Roger That: Swarm Aero was founded in 2022 to build UAVs for the U.S. Military, leveraging artificial intelligence to develop cutting-edge defense and aerospace technologies. After a nationwide search surveying locations in over 20 states, Swarm Aero chose NWA for its robust skilled labor force, vibrant community, and attractive business environment.

  • Swarming In: Swarm Aero has already established an office in Rogers and is working with community leaders and real estate groups to plan its new production facility. At full production, the manufacturing center will employ a large force of engineers and technicians.

MONAH’s Ties To Oscars-Nominated Film, Killers Of The Flower Moon

Martin Scorcese’s film adaptation of Killers of the Flower Moon is up for 10 Oscars, including Best Costume Design, which was influenced by the design team’s visits to the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville.

  • Detailed Planning: In their efforts to preserve the history of the Osage Tribe in the film’s wardrobe, Costume Designer Jacqueline West and Costume Cultural Advisor and Osage Nation member Julie O’Keefe visited Bentonville to draw inspiration from the collection at MONAH.

  • From The Closet: In particular, West and O’Keefe studied and took measurements of two pieces from the museum collection, the Osage Woman’s Wedding Outfit and Osage Woman’s Prairie Thistle Outfit. If you’d like to see them in person, admission at MONAH is always free!

Help Eureka Springs Win “March Madness Of Urbanism”

Eureka Springs has been nominated for the 9th Annual Strongest Town Contest, a bracket-style voting tournament highlighting U.S. cities’ progress toward safety, financial resiliency, housing, and transportation.

  • Bracketology: Sixteen towns will compete through five rounds of weekly voting periods. One champion will be honored at the Strong Towns National Gathering, with two representatives flown in and presented with an award. Strong Towns will also create a short documentary film about the winning city.

  • Champions:  Previous winning towns have gone on to make roads safer and more pedestrian-friendly, created public centers where local commerce thrives, and provided access to community services through a strong network of community partnerships.
