Local Nonprofit Turning Northwest Arkansas’s Attention Towards Space

Bentonville nonprofit NWA Space is working to bring a new space and science center to Northwest Arkansas, raising funds to build an observatory, planetarium, and IMAX theater.

  • Spacing Out: Leading the effort is Dr. Katherine Auld, who serves as a professor at Northwest Arkansas Community College and as a solar system ambassador at NASA. The proposed science center would feature a 150-seat planetarium, permanent science exhibits, and a stocked chemistry lab for hands-on activities.

  • Final Frontier: NWA Space is currently refurbishing an antique refractor telescope and frequently engages the community with outreach events to raise up a science-literate workforce of enthusiastic learners.
