Renewable Natural Gas Facility Powers Northwest Arkansas and Beyond

WM’s new $35m Eco-Vista Renewable Gas Facility in Tontitown could convert gasses from decomposing organic waste into enough renewable natural gas to power an entire town.

  • One man’s trash: As the region’s primary landfill, Eco-Vista received over 600,000 tons of Northwest Arkansas’s waste last year — containing tens of thousands of pounds of food scraps and rotting waste which generates methane and carbon dioxide after being buried.

  • Another man’s gas: Eco-Vista’s RGN Facility captures and purifies those gasses, distributing them into Energy Transfer’s Enable Gas Transmission pipeline system across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and other states. WM expects the facility to recover enough gas to power 25,000 homes or 650 heavy-duty vehicles annually.
