Amazeum Flips the Script With Their Annual UnGala

We're 9 days away from the Scott Family Amazeum's annual UnGala event where adults can tinker with and explore interactive exhibits.

  • Mixing it up: During normal business hours, the Amazeum welcomes family and kids to envoke a sense of curiosity and discovery through hands-on activities. They welcome over 110,000 visitors annually. Its rare adults get the invite...

  • After hours: The 2024 Ungala is where the Museum opens up after hours for adults to scratch their curiosity itch. Aren't convinced - checkout their sizzle reel from last year and you might change your mind.

The proceeds from the event help make it possible for 1 in 5 guests to experience the museum for free or at a reduced cost. Learn more about the event and find tickets HERE

Thinking Through the Impact of Housing and Infrastructure on Northwest Arkansas's Future

Influential leaders of the Northwest Arkansas Council recently discussed challenges facing the region, including housing and traffic congestion, as the area prepares to potentially grow to 1 million residents by 2050.

  • Growing pains: Research conducted by the council found that while residents value outdoor recreation and feel safe, they are concerned about the availability of affordable housing and the impact of traffic on their quality of life.

  • Thinking differently: To address the housing issue, architect Allison Quinlan suggests implementing more density housing and rethinking zoning regulations to accommodate the projected growth without losing green space.

Northwest Arkansas Community College Expanding Athletic Program with Four New Sports

Northwest Arkansas Community College is upping its game by adding four new sports to its athletics program, starting with track and field in spring 2025 and ending with softball in spring 2029.

  • Doing the homework: NWACC's five-year feasibility study looked at participation data, cost per student-athlete, and potential facilities to determine the best sports to include and when, with a focus on Arkansas and its border states.

  • Plans with benefits: The potential addition of a soccer field and surrounding track would not only benefit NWACC's new sports teams, but also be available for intramural sports and other student activities.
