Celebrate The Pioneers Of Women In Aviation This Week At Thaden Field

Women of Aviation Worldwide Week celebrates the first pilot license issued to a woman — Raymonde de Laroche, on March 8, 1910. Join the celebration at Thaden Field in Bentonville with daily themed events and a party at the hangar this Saturday, Mar 9, from 10a-2p.

  • Namesake: Thaden Field is named after aviator Louise Thaden. Born and raised in Bentonville, Thaden set multiple world records for speed, altitude, and endurance flights and became the first woman to win the Bendix Trophy Race in 1936.

  • To The Skies: Visit Thaden Fieldhouse to take part in the national Pink Paper Plane Challenge, snap pics in a sky-themed photo booth, and enter a drawing for two free discovery flights over NWA with FLY OZ Club. On Saturday, the hangar will be filled with airplanes that you can sit in and talk to pilots!
