Family Bike Night Brings Fun, Free Tacos, and Community Engagement to the Natural State Criterium Series

Downtown Springdale is gearing up for a night of excitement with Family Bike Night, featuring fun rides and fast races, community donations, music, and more. This event is part of the Natural State Criterium Series and offers cash prizes for participants.

Coler Welcomes First Firefly Sanctuary In Arkansas

Hey Alexa, play Fireflies by Owl City! A portion of Coler Mountain Bike Preserve has officially been designated as a firefly sanctuary.

• A Thousand Hugs: Created in partnership with NWA Master Naturalists, the Coler Firefly Sanctuary is the first firefly sanctuary in Arkansas and the first established west of the Mississippi River. The area’s long grass, native plants, leaf litter for the firefly larvae, and pesticide-free management make the habitat perfect for fireflies.

• From 10,000 Lighting Bugs: Master Naturalists will be leading Firefly Walks through the sanctuary this summer on June 21, 22, 28, and 29, giving people the opportunity to observe and enjoy nature’s fascinating flying flashlights.
