$4.4M Grant Will Fund Largest Stream Restoration Ever Attempted In Arkansas

The War Eagle Creek Collaborative Restoration Initiative has received a $4.4m grant from the U.S. Department of Interior through the America the Beautiful Initiative to assist with the largest stream restoration project ever undertaken in Arkansas.

  • Federally Funded: U.S. Secretary of Interior Deb Haaland visited Northwest Arkansas this week to share the grant announcement, meeting with Arkansas officials at the Ozark Highlands Nature Center to discuss collaborative efforts to restore outdoor spaces.

  • Waterways: The initiative aims to reconnect and remove hazards along 400+ stream miles of War Eagle Creek, establish the War Eagle Creek Water Trail and other recreational amenities along 28 miles of the creek, and ensure clean water for the 500,000+ people who receive their water from Beaver Lake.

Start Prepping Your Puppers For The PAWS OFF Family Dog Walk

Enjoy a heartwarming day of doggy shenanigans during the PAWS OFF Family Dog Walk, benefitting the NWA Center for Sexual Assault, at Walker Park in Fayetteville on Saturday, Apr 27, from 11a-4p.

  • Paws for a Cause: The NWA Center for Sexual Assault provides free services to adult survivors of sexual violence while promoting a safer future for all through education and awareness.

  • Doggone Fun: PAWS OFF will kick off with a group Dog Walk followed by activities like a Paw Print Makin’ Station, Daschund Races, Doggie Bobbin’ for Hot Dogs, and more! A FREE vendor/resource fair will take place alongside the event, including the Crystal Bridges Mobile Art Lab — vendor opportunities are still available!
