Open Avenues’ SOAR NWA Returns to Bentonville for Fourth Year

The fourth annual SOAR NWA hot air balloon festival takes flight at the Benton County Fairgrounds on Aug 18-19, taking fun to new heights and opening up new avenues for our neighbors with disabilities.

  • Helping Others Fly: SOAR NWA raises funds for Open Avenues — a nonprofit that has been serving Northwest Arkansas since 1975 by providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

  • Take to the Skies: Enjoy a variety of events, including evening balloon glows, tethered balloon rides, a kid zone, circus performers, musical performances, helicopter rides, a beer garden, food vendors, and a car exhibit.

Cool Off During Sprinklerfest At Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

Cool off from the summer heat at Sprinklerfest — this week’s Terrific Tuesday Nights at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks on Jul 18 from 5-8:30p.

  • Oh, What a Night: Terrific Tuesday Nights is a free summer series inviting the Northwest Arkansas community to experience the Garden on beautiful summer evenings, thanks to the generous support of the Pat & Willard Walker Foundation.

  • Make a Splash: During Sprinklerfest, the Great Lawn will be filled with sprinklers for kids (and kids at heart) to play and splash around. There will also be plenty of yard activities to enjoy, including sidewalk chalk, hula hoops, cornhole, and more.

Diego Rivera’s America Now In Its Final Weeks

Just two weeks remain to witness Diego Rivera's America at Crystal Bridges — the first major exhibition of the renowned Mexican artist in over 20 years, featuring over 130 of his works.

  • Rivera's Legacy: The exhibition showcases a broad range of Rivera's drawings, easel paintings, frescoes, and more, examining the social and cultural life of Mexico and America from the 1920s to the 1940s.

  • Unveiled: The collection includes rarely-seen works from private collections, contributions on loan from museums in the United States and Mexico, and three significant paintings by Frida Kahlo, including a self-portrait of her with Rivera.

Samaritan Community Center Hosts Largest School Supply Drive To Date

Samaritan Community Center will host its Annual School Supply Drive this Friday, aiming to fill 4,000 backpacks for local children in need — the nonprofit’s biggest drive to date!

  • Got Your Backpack: The donated items will be distributed during SCC’s BackPacks for Kids event at Arvest Ballpark on Aug 5. If you need a backpack, you must reserve a ticket for the event at the Rogers or Springdale SCC location.

  • First-Day Ready: Help our young neighbors be back-to-school ready by donating school supplies at the Chick-fil-A on Pauline Whitaker Parkway in Rogers this Friday, Jul 21, from 10a-2p. Or purchase online, and Walmart will deliver to the SCC Rogers Center.
