Gulley Park Concert Series Wraps Up For The Season This Thursday

The final concert of the summer in the 27th Annual Gulley Park Summer Concert Series is set for this week with Funk Factory and a special Kidz Night on Thursday, Jul 20, from 6:30-8:30p.

• For the kids: Enjoy local food trucks, the NWA Makers Mini-Market, and live music. This week’s musical guest is party band Funk Factory, bringing a dynamic set of soul, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, modern pop, and country covers.

• Kids’ special: In conjunction with the concert, Kidz Night will feature obstacle course inflatables, bounce houses, face painting, jumbo-size yard games, and more, thanks to the generosity of the local vendors and sponsors of the Gulley Park Concert Series.

The Natural State Considers The Final Frontier

Arkansas may soon join the space race as Act 477 by the state legislature has ordered the state Economic Development Commission to conduct a study on the feasibility of constructing a spaceport in the Natural State.

• The Natural Space: A report by the Arkansas Future Mobility Council (see pg 59) sparked the initiative in 2022, suggesting a spaceport could be an economic boon to the state, create engineering jobs, and establish Arkansas as an international space hub in the heart of the country.

• Beam Me Up, Scotty: Building a spaceport in Arkansas seems ambitious, but with the global space race gaining momentum and launch costs decreasing, it may be more accessible than ever before. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce estimates the spacefaring economy will reach $1.5t by 2040, supporting over 140,000 jobs.
