New $2B Theme Park and Resort To Be Built Within Two Hour Drive of Northwest Arkansas

Northwest Arkansas will soon sit smack dab between two theme park towns, with Silver Dollar City to our east in Branson, MO, and the new $2B American Heartland Theme Park to our west in Vinita, OK.

  • OK Disneyland: Expected to compare in size with Disneyland, the 1,000-acre theme park and resort will open in phases, starting with a large-scale RV park opening in spring 2025, offering 750 RV spaces, 300 cabins, and various amenities.

  • First in our Heartland: The theme park and resort are expected to open in 2026, featuring an Americana-themed environment with rides, live shows, family attractions, waterways, and restaurants. Divided into six "distinctly American lands," the park will include a 300-room hotel and indoor water park.

GiveCamp NWA Serving Local Nonprofits in Need of Free Websites

GiveCamp NWA is accepting applications for its annual weekend event that brings technology & creative professionals together to create free tech solutions for local nonprofits, set for Oct 6-8.

  • The Nonprofit Nonprofit: Since 2012, GiveCamp NWA has empowered local nonprofits by providing free technology assets, usually websites and social media solutions, to remove barriers and make them more effective and efficient in their missions.

  • Weekenders: The GiveCamp Organizing Committee will select up to 12 nonprofits to participate in GiveCamp's annual event. Website designers, developers, and anyone willing to serve for the weekend are encouraged to apply as a volunteer!

Free Family Night at the University of Arkansas Museum

The University of Arkansas Museum will host Family Night at the Museum, featuring artifacts ranging from meteorites and dinosaurs to ancient Roman coins and first computers, this Saturday, Jul 29, from 5-10p.

  • History Buffs: Explore the museum’s fascinating collection and meet community partners from the Arkansas Air and Military Museum, Arkansas Archeological Survey, UARK Isely Baerg Entomology Club, and UARK Space Hogs.

  • Night at the Museum: Bring your friends and family to enjoy the museum, interactive games, and immersive crafts. This is a great opportunity for K-12 educators to discover valuable museum resources. Bring your outdoor chairs and blankets; the evening will end with an outdoor movie featuring The Good Dinosaur.

Siloam Springs will celebrate this month's Fourth Friday with the theme ART FEST at Memorial Park on Jul 28 from 4-8:30p.

  • Paint the town: Gather with the community for a night of live music, food trucks, free activities, local crafters, small businesses, and fun with other artsy fartsy folks.

  • Where art thou: Enjoy live music on the library promenade from 4-6p and get your picture drawn by a caricaturist from 5-7p! Then gather at Chautauqua Amphitheater for a live performance featuring Samantha Crain at 6:30p.
